We are #PalmyraProud of our senior (& Student Body President) Andrew Yansick! He was the 2020 recipient of the Widener Leadership Award. Unfortunately due to the pandemic the ceremony normally held at the National Constitution Center was canceled. Andrew was honored in a virtual presentation that included remarks from Widener University President, Julie Woolman & NBC10’s Tracey Davidson. Motivational speaker Jason Lavasseur gave the keynote address. The Yansick family shared that this honor is not only Andrew’s, but also for the many teachers & mentors he has had the privilege of working with in Palmyra School District. #WidenerLeadership #PalmyraStuCo The virtual ceremony can be viewed on Widener University's website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwX-MtQNGkw&feature=youtu.be

SHARPEN THE SAW DAY – Monday, April 6th Stephen Covey said, "We must never become so busy sawing that we forget to sharpen the saw." The concept of Sharpening the Saw is listed as the seventh habit in Covey's SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE. We understand that the remote instruction and remote learning has been very challenging for everyone. In fact, it's been overwhelming for many families, especially for parents who are essential employees still working a full schedule every day -- plus providing assistance to their children. Throughout the school closures, the expectation is that everyone does the best they can with what they have. In order to give everyone a day to take a breath, collaborate, get caught up, reflect, refresh, etc., we are designating this coming Monday April 6 as SHARPEN THE SAW DAY. It is still an official school day; however, teachers will not be providing new instruction or new assignments on this day. Students and parents are encouraged to get caught up and reach out to teachers for support.

A message from Dr. McBride: Palmyra School District Families, The preemptive closure of Palmyra School District was initiated based on the recommendation of the Burlington County Health Department. District schools will be closed for students from March 16 – April 19, 2020. Although we anticipate re-opening on April 20, 2020, the actual date will be dependent upon the recommendation of the Burlington County Health Department. Palmyra School District staff will be reporting on Monday, March 16, 2020 to make preparations and finalize plans for remote instruction. These are unprecedented times and I kindly ask for your patience and understanding as our dedicated team works through the unique challenge of providing remote instruction for such a long duration of time. Remote learning for students will begin Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Information about our public health-related school closure and remote learning can be found using the COVID-19 link on the district website. Our teaching staff and school leaders are working very hard to develop instructional lessons that can be adapted for remote learning. Please look for more specifics as they become available.
In our efforts to give you up to date information, you may have received duplicate notifications. The most recent from Dr. McBride reflects the early evening decision of the County Board of Health & school will be closed until April 17th.
Late this afternoon, the Burlington County Health Department announced the preemptive closure of ALL Burlington County school districts from Monday, March 16, 2020 until Friday, April 17, 2020. As was communicated earlier today, we have information available on our website, www.palmyraschools.com. Please see the Public Health-Related School Closure Plan for more information on school closures and home instruction.
