Palmyra School District Construction is being managed by Greyhawk Construction Management Consultants.

Remaining Referendum Work

  • The bi-monthly meetings with Ogren (General Contractor) continue, these notes are the result of the meetings.

  • PHS Track

    • Underground Storm Drains have been installed (yellow in photos)
    • Overall yard drainage has been installed
    • Site lighting and scoreboard electrical work have been reinstalled
    • Now starting to profile the future track layout

    PHS Work

    • Full Scaffolding has been built in the Auditorium
    • Auditorium ceiling demolition is underway
    • Front Entrance addition block walls are substantially completed
    • Guidance/Counseling Suite has been framed
    • Electrical rough in is underway in Guidance Counseling
    • New electrical power feed has begun
    • Furniture Purchase Orders are to be sent out asap

    CSS Work

    • Electrical work continues on the second shift (after school lets out)
    • Furniture decisions are to be sent out ASAP
    • Abatement work for CSS is scheduled to start on 6/19

  • PHS Track

    • Work has resumed on the track as of this week.
    • The vendor is working on overall yard drainage, 
    • The visitor bleachers are going back together with the handicap ramp  
    • Demolition of the existing track curb line

    PHS Work

    • Sub floor was installed in the auditorium
    • Scaffolding construction has begun in the auditorium
    • Above ceiling electrical feeds have begun throughout
    • The auditorium subfloor is scheduled for delivery next week
    • Main entrance foundation and slab are complete

    • Work will resume on May 16 for the renovation of the PHS Track.

    PHS Work

    • The demolition of the front entrance addition is complete
    • Foundations are underway
    • The demolition of the exterior of the cafeteria will commence next week
    • The auditorium subfloor is scheduled for delivery next week
    • Building scaffolding for the auditorium is being evaluated 
    • Furniture decisions are being finalized
    • RFP (vendor) has begun with access control replacement

    CSS Work

    • Electrical work continues on the second shift (after school lets out)
    • Furniture decisions are being finalized

    Workers are renovating a stage, removing flooring and preparing for construction. An empty stage with tables and barriers, possibly under renovation.

  • PHS Track

    • Work will resume on May 16 for the renovation of the PHS Track.
    • Underground storm system has been delivered. (bright yellow arches inside the stadium fences)
    • Visitor bleachers were relocated over spring break.

    PHS Work

    • Construction zones have been established in the front and back of the school
    • The abatement and demolition have been mostly completed.  There is still some minor demolition remaining.
    • The demolition in the auditorium has begun.
    • With NJSLA testing occurring in the next few weeks, the work will be limited during the testing periods.

    CSS Work

    • Electrical work has begun utilizing the second shift (after school lets out)
  • PHS Track

    • Work will resume on May 16 for the renovation of the PHS Track after Spring Track season is complete.
    • Underground storm system has been delivered.

    Remaining Referendum Work

    • The Preconstruction meeting took place on March 19th.
    • Construction Permits have been submitted.
    • Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 14th at Palmyra HS |MS.  
    • The bi-monthly meetings with Ogren (General Contractor) are scheduled to start on Wednesday April 2nd.

    ORIGINAL Schedule- 4/24 to 5/2025

  • PHS Track

    • The "NO WORK" period from March 10th to May 15th has officially started (construction work will resume on May 16 when track season is completed)
    • The Underground storm system has been delivered
    • The Football Concession stand demolition has been completed
    • The slab for the bleacher relocation has been poured

    Remaining Referendum Work

    • The rebid from March 4th was awarded at the March 12th BoE meeting.  
    • Preconstruction meeting has been scheduled for March 19th
    • Permits are scheduled for submission next week (Week of 3/17)
    • Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 14th at Palmyra HS / MS.

    Remaining Referendum Work

    • The bids received on Feb 6th exceeded our remaining budget
    • The administrative team worked with Greyhawk & Garrison to reduce scope.  We focused on value engineering to reduce costs.  Value Engineering (VE) is having the same product but at a more economical price.  For example, as opposed to having all heating and air conditioning controlled at a central location, all modified rooms will have their own controls.  
    • We re-advertised this Monday, 2/17, and the second bid opening will be on the 4th of March.  
    • Current project schedule remains intact.  

    PHS Roof

    • All paper has been received & the project is officially closed out as of 2-14-25

    PHS Track

    • Tree removal has begun
    • Underground storm system is on schedule for delivery
    • Football Concession stand is scheduled for demolition
    • Interior fence line was removed
    • Survey was completed
    • New visitor concrete was excavated

    CSS Roof

    • All paper has been received & the project is officially closed out as of 2-14-25.

    • Goal is to award the winning vendor at the February 12th BOE mtg

    • The scoreboard has been relocated to its new position
    • The light poles on the Delaware Avenue Side have been relocated
    • Once weather warms up, site work should be able to commence

  • PHS Roof

    • There are a few minor details being addressed
    • Final building inspection was completed
    • Substantial completion was issued to the contractor
    • We are waiting on the closeout paperwork

    PHS Track

    • A preconstruction meeting took place before Thanksgiving with Shore Top (awarded vendor)
    • The submittal process has started
    • The permit from Burlington County Soil Conservation was received 
    • We are working on obtaining other permits to begin the job
    • We are looking to schedule a groundbreaking event to celebrate the future track!

    CSS Roof

    • Final building inspection was completed
    • Substantial completion was issued to the contractor
    • We are waiting on the closeout paperwork

    CSS Playground

    • The new playground was officially opened for our students on Monday, December 2nd.  Please see our website for the pictures of the ribbon cutting ceremony!
    • We are finalizing the closeout paperwork
    • We are waiting on additional dirt around the sidewalk 
    • We are waiting on the red benches being delivered (The yellow benches will be removed.  This will not cause any damage to the rubber surface).

    • We are currently working on the punchlist
    • The latch door has been received and will be installed early next week.

    PHS Track

    • The BID advertisement was posted 10/7
    • Pre BID walkthrough was 10/10
    • BIDS will be open on 11/7
    • We plan to award the vendor for the track work at the November BOE meeting (11/13/24)

    CSS Roof

    • We are currently working on the punchlist
    • The Roof Mounted Ladder has been delivered.  It should be installed next week.

    CSS Playground

    • The demo was completed earlier this week
    • Installation is currently occuring
    • Establish completion date is the week of 11/11 or thereabouts (depending on weather, etc.)

    Remaining Referendum Work

    • The Garrison Team and sub consultants walked the PIT, auditorium, and the cafeteria.
    • We have received confirmation that the addition to the PHS cafeteria will allow for an open concept, which will enable the room to be one as opposed to two separate rooms.
    • We are waiting on the final cost of the track before going out for BID for the remaining projects. and we are hopeful to go out to bid in mid January

    • Currently working on the Punchlist items
    • The metal trim install is complete.
    • The latch door is scheduled for delivery next week with installation planned for week of Halloween.

    • We plan to award the vendor for the track work at the November BOE meeting (11/13/24)

    • The exterior metal is complete. Flashing metal on the roof is completed. Plan is to be complete by next week.
    • Roof-mounted ladder has been Delivered. Install date is asap.

    CSS Playground

    • Equipment vendor is scheduled to ship on 10/18/24.
    • Work is scheduled to start the week of 10/28
    • Completion date is expected to be 11/8 or thereabouts (depending weather, etc.).

    Remaining Referendum Work 10/16/24

    • We have been meeting with our administrative team to fine tune the design of the remaining projects. 
    • We have met in-person and virtually with the Garrison Team concerning these decisions.  
    • Once floor plans are approved, Garrison will proceed with Bid documents.  
    • We are hopeful to go out to bid in November.

    • The material for the installation of metal trim has been delivered & is currently being installed- they will be finished this week.
    • The latch door is scheduled for installation next week.

    REMAINING REFERENDUM WORK

    • The Garrison Architectural Team and sub-consultants walked the PIT,  auditorium, and the cafeteria areas.
    • We met with local code enforcement last week to discuss the projects planned.
    • We are waiting on the final cost of the track before going out for BID for the remaining projects.
    • We are hopeful to go out to bid in November

    REMAINING REFERENDUM WORK

    • The layout for Palmyra HS renovations has been finalized.  We appreciate the feedback received from the various stakeholders (administration, nurse, guidance counselors, librarian, CST)
    • The auditorium, cafeteria (PHS), and PIT are still being reviewed
      • Once floor plans are approved, Garrison will proceed with Bid documents.  
    • We are hopeful to go out to bid in November

    • We met with the Engineer, Varsity Track Coaches, Athletic Director, Construction Manager, CEFM, and Business Administrator to finalize the design of the track.
    • We are hopeful  to go out to bid in October for the Track reno
    • We plan to award the vendor for the track work at the November BOE meeting (11/13/24)

    • The installation of metal trim due to be completed middle of next week
    • We are waiting on roof-mounted ladder.  Delivery date is TBD.
    • Now that school is session, roof workers are wearing company apparel on site
    • Access to the roof remains by outside ladder which is fenced now that school has started

    • A Purchase Order has been issued to the equipment vendor. Currently, it is scheduled to ship on 10/18/24. We are hopeful it will be sooner.
    • We have selected a vendor to install a fence and sidewalk as well. A Purchase Order has been issued to that vendor.
    • Once the equipment is here, the demo of the existing playground will start.

    September – Week#1

    Regular summer work has also been a priority for our B&G team! PHS gym floor & District hallways & classrooms were all polished to a blinding shine!

    • The latch door should be installed by end of September
    • The roofing should be complete by mid  second week of September at PHS (subject to change)
    • The installation of metal trim is TBD at the high school
    • AC is back up and running at PHS
    • Now that school is session, roof workers are wearing company apparel & the roofers are parking in the bus yard (adjacent to the gym)
    • Access to the roof remains by outside ladder which is fenced now that school has started

    PHS Track

    • We will meet in the next two weeks with the Engineer, Varsity Track Coaches, Athletic Director, Construction Manager, and Business Administrator to finalize the design of the track.
    • We are hopeful  to go out to bid in October for the Track reno.

    CSS Roof

    • The roofing should be complete by mid  second week of September at CSS (subject to change)
    • The installation of metal trim will take another 2-3 weeks to complete
    • All AC units are reconnected at CSS
    • We are waiting on a ladder being replaced for the CSS roof.  Delivery date is TBD.
    • Now that school is session, roof workers are wearing company apparel on site
    • Access to the roof remains by outside ladder which is fenced now that school has started

    CSS Playground

    • A Purchase Order has been issued to the equipment vendor. We are now awaiting the delivery.
    • We are selecting a vendor to install a fence and sidewalk as well. That decision will be finalized by 9/9.
    • Once the equipment is here, the demo of the existing playground will start.

  • PHS Roof

    • The doors (2) on the roof are holding up the completion of job.  We are awaiting delivery and installation on those doors.  
    • All other tasks should be completed by the second week of September (subject to change)
    • 3/4 AC units should be working by the end of the day on Friday (8/23).  The other unit, 5th street side, needs a board to be fixed.  Estimated completion is by the end of next week (subject to change).  
    • Work this Saturday (8/24) is  planned on the PHS Roof
    • Once school is session, roof workers will be wearing company apparel &  the roofers will be parking in the bus yard (adjacent to the gym)
    • Access to the roof will be by ladder which will be fenced in once school starts

    PHS Track

    • Meeting scheduled for Monday 8/26 with our Engineer, Track Coaches, AD, & Construction Manager to discuss preliminary design of the track
    • The start date of the construction is TBD

    CSS Roof

    • Estimated completion of the roof is Labor Day week.  However, the metal installation will be closer to the end of September (we are hoping for faster completion).  
    • Three of the AC units still need to be repaired.  Estimated time of completion is 8/30.  Right now the rooms impacted are the following: IT office, gym office, and faculty lounge.
    • Once school is in session all roof workers will be wearing company apparel & all roofers will park on the street
    • Access to the roof will be by ladder which will be fenced in once school starts.
    • We have an issue with a root that is in a drain.  We will need to replace a section of the drain. Completion date is TBD.

    CSS Playground

    • The start date of construction will be determined by the procurement of equipment.  
    • Once the equipment is here, the demo of the existing playground will start.

    August- Week#4

    August- Week#3

    Historic Matt Curtis Stadium opened to the public in 1939. On May 7th, 2024 the Garrison Design Team, including WJ Gross contractor, Kevin Walls & John McCullough, engineers, conducted a final field visit with our District Team. This project began last October & included among other things, repair of deteriorating concrete, rail post reinforcements, expansion joint updating, power-washing & painting.

    Shiny & safe for our Spring Track events & our upcoming graduation for the class of '24!
