Our District has a new President of the Palmyra Board of Education!
Congratulations to Mr. Jim Dickinson who was elected President of the Board at the annual Reorganization Meeting last week. Similar congratulations go to Mrs. Amy Austin who was re-elected Vice President of the Board.
At the meeting, Mr. Jay Toscano (Board Secretary & Business Admin) swore in the 3 re-elected members: Ms. Kate Allen Yoakum, Ms, Erika Celley & Mrs. Cara Broadbelt. Once they took their oath, the board took their seats and voted on their leadership. We appreciate the article shared in the Palmyra Sun today about the event.
At our December BoE meeting, 2025 Board President, Mr. Sean Toner indicated that he would likely not be president in the coming year and he reflected on all the forward progress that has happened in the district since his presidential tenure began in January 2020. It seems so long ago now, but he was the Board leader through COVID closings, the creation of the current Strategic Plan 2021-2026 that is closing this June, the Bond Referendum & the subsequent campus construction that remains ongoing. We want to thank Mr. Toner for his many years of guidance as president, through 3 superintendents & wish him well. Sean remains on the BoE until fall 2026 when his seat is up for re-election. The next regular Meeting of the BoE is January 21st at Charles Street School at 7pm. There will be student of the Month honorees AND Our Governor's Educator of the Year honorees from our 3 buildings highlighted during the opening portion of the meeting.
