Weekly Athletics Update
-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:
Happy Monday Everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekends even with ANOTHER brutal Eagles loss! Here is a look at how our student-athletes competed (& served) last week:
Our Boys Soccer Team used Thursday’s game against Holy Cross to spread Morgan’s Message, an organization that strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community. Thanks to Coach Nick Nahrwold and Senior, Olivia Lynch for helping to organize the event. For more information about Morgan’s Message please visit their website at: Morgan's Message
Congratulations to our Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard for their two first place finishes this past weekend! At their first show at Clayton HS, the band took first place out of 7 bands. They thoroughly defeated the competition by 3 points. In the process, they won Best Music again for a fourth time and won all music captions as well, Individual Music, Music Ensemble and Music Effect.
They followed that up with an even more impressive win at Washington Township HS. Performing first in a field of 12 bands is always a tall task. The band accepted the challenge and again took first place by over a point with a score of 80.69. They again won the Caption of Music Ensemble.
There are only 2 group 1A bands in all of the Tournament of Bands circuit that have broken 80 points so far, and Palmyra is one of them. Their 2 scores from Saturday of 82.45 at Clayton and 80.69 at Washington Township are currently the first and third highest scores for all of Group 1A bands in the Tournament Of Bands. This currently ranks them as the #1 band in their division, which contains over 45 bands from at least 5 states. Catch their Clayton performance AND their Washington Township Performance recordings proving their longstanding title of: Award Winning Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard!
