Weekly Athletics Update
-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Morning Everyone! The gym was rocking on Friday Night with support from the PHS Pep Band! 😎 Come out and see them during one of our home basketball games this winter! Here is a look at how our winter student-athletes performed last week as we approach winter break:
The Boys Basketball Team is off to a hot start with wins over Pennsauken and Burlington City last week. The boys opened their season with a 62-40 win over Pennsauken on Wednesday. Jesahi Robinson led the offense with 18 points and Da’Shon Edmonds had 13 points. On Friday the boys defeated rivals Burlington City, 52-49. Jesahi Robinson again led the way with 19 points. Da’Shon Edmonds chipped in with 10 points and 7 rebounds. The boys are 2-0 to start the season and will host Florence on Tuesday in their next game.
The Girls Basketball Team will also started the season with 2 wins. The girls beat Pennsauken High School on Wednesday, 37-36. Jada Coefield-Elie led the offense with 15 points. Jillian Hines had a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. On Friday, the girls defeated Burlington City 43-38. Jillian Hines had her 2nd double-double in 2 games, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Elsie Kenson had 13 points, including 3-3 pointers. The girls have also started 2-0 and will host KIPP Academy today at 4PM for their next game.
The Boys Wrestling Team lost their 1st match of the season at New Egypt High School, 48-16. Sy’keem Muse, Ian Smith and Deakon Haines all recorded wins for the Panthers. On Saturday the boys traveled to Gateway High School for the Gator Tournament. Sy’keem Muse and Ian Smith took home 5th place finishes. Chace Mulherin finished in 4th place and Deakon Haines took home a silver medal, finishing 2nd at the tournament.
The Girls Wrestling Team's Samantha Domask traveled to Jackson Township High School for the prestigious Queen of the East Tournament on Saturday. After a long and successful day she was crowned Queen of the East by winning the tournament. This is her 3rd, 1st place finish at the tournament! Great job by her and the wrestling coaches! See the attached photo with Sam proudly on top of the podium with her 1st place medal.

The Winter Track & Field Team reports that this past weekend at the University of Pennsylvania, the Panthers went head-to-head with the best South Jersey has to offer—and made a serious statement. 🔥 The Palmyra Track Team is off to a blazing start this season! 🔥
On the girls’ side,
Khloe Hunter led the way with a strong 12th-place finish in the 200-meter dash,
while Madison Grimes finished 19th.
The girls’ 4x200 relay team of Hailey Monroe, Alivia Brown, Khloe Hunter, and Madison Grimes powered their way to a 10th-place finish.
Madison Grimes also soared to 9th place in the high jump, and
Zaria Welch delivered a solid 12th-place finish in the shot put.
The boys were just as impressive.
Michael Monroe sprinted to a 7th-place finish in the 55-meter dash.
The boys’ 4x200 relay team of TJ Peltz, Michael Monroe, Aaron Clark-Wells, and Jose Ruiz finished 20th.
Mike Kozlowski placed 9th in the pole vault,
Josiah Rodriguez finished 16th,
John Hammond earned a 7th-place finish in the 1600, and
Pat Broadbelt finished 12th in the 800.

Khloe Hunter is ranked #1 in South Jersey and 8th in the state in the 200!
Madison Grimes is ranked 4th in South Jersey in the 200.
The girls’ 4x200 relay team of Hailey Monroe, Alivia Brown, Khloe Hunter, Madison Grimes is ranked #1 in South Jersey Group 1 and #1 in Group 1 State rankings!
Michael Monroe is ranked 3rd in South Jersey Group 1,
Mike Kozlowski is 3rd in South Jersey Group 1 and 5th in Group 1 State in the pole vault, and
Josiah Rodriguez is ranked 9th in South Jersey Group 1.
John Hammond is ranked 4th in South Jersey and 10th in the state in the 1600, while
Pat Broadbelt is ranked 6th in South Jersey Group 1 in the 1600 and #2 in South Jersey and 4th in Group 1 State rankings in the 800.
John Hammond also ranks 4th in South Jersey Group 1 and 9th in the state in the 800.

=======================M I D D L E S C H O O L===========================
The Middle School Girls Basketball Team had a 1-2 week. The girls opened the week with a 38-15 win over Delanco. Nijah Robbs led the scoring with 11 points. Liz Youngblood, Brooke Strobel, Saniya Miller, Alana Pirela and Janiyah Woods all scored to aid in the win. The girls lost close games to Riverside and Riverton on Wednesday and Thursday last week. The girls will travel to Beverly for their next game today.
The Middle School Boys Basketball Team also had a 1-2 week. The boys opened the week with a 60-25 win over Delanco. Bennett Hart led the team in scoring with 29 points. Braylen Wise chipped in 10 points. The boys lost close games to Riverside and Riverton later in the week. Against Riverside, Bennett Hart scored 20 points and Braylen Wise added 13. The boys also lost a close game to Riverton on Thursday, 44-41. Bennett Hart led the offense with 23 points. The boys will travel to Beverly Elementary School today for their next game.
