It was a great week for PHS sports and we were given a surprise visit by 2016 PHS Alumni Kelvin Harmon who took the time to share his educational journey with CSS students!  He mentioned a few of his favorite teachers from CSS, PHS, North Carolina State and the NFL!  Kelvin says no matter where he goes, he always considers Palmyra to be home!

Here is a look at how our current student-athletes performed last week:

In Boys Soccer, Congrats go to PHS Senior Kian Briant for being named to the NJSCA All-State Team.  Kian was named to the South Section Honorable Mention Team at the end of the season banquet last week with the top players from across the state.
 A smiling young man holds an 'All State Soccer Award' certificate in front of a backdrop with 'SCANJ' and '#HSSCANJ' logos.The Boys Basketball Team continued their terrific start to the season going 3-0 on the week.  The boys opened the week with a 50-39 win over Pennsauken Tech.  Da’Shon Edmonds led the scoring with 17 points while Jesahi Robinson added 12 points. Zacharius Michel chipped in 10 points to help the Panthers.  
The boys then went to undefeated Doane Academy and walked out with a huge 67-63 Freedom Division win.  Julian Corry and Da’Shon Edmonds each scored 18 points to lead the Panthers offensively.  Jesahi Robinson added 17 points for the victors.  
The boys finished their perfect week with a thrashing of Maple Shade, 72-37.  Da’Shon Edmonds continued his hot streak pacing the Panthers with 15 points.  Julian Corry added 14 points and Jesahi Robinson pitched in with 10 points.  The boys enter this week with a 7-1 record and will host Willingboro tonight in a big BCSL Freedom Division showdown.

The Girls Basketball Team also had a perfect week, going 3-0.  The girls began the week with a 51-33 win over the Florence Flashes.  Jada Coefield-Elie led the girls in scoring with 20 points.  Ava Sims added 13 points and 21 rebounds.  The girls then cruised by Pennsauken Tech with a 51-27 victory.  Jillian Hines led the way with 12 points and 10 assists.  Ava Sims also had 12 points and Jada Coefield-Elie added 10 points.  The girls finished their perfect week by crushing Doane Academy, 53-24.  Ava Sims scored 12 points and added 11 rebounds.  Elsie Kenson also added 12 points.  The girls improved to 7-2 on the season and will travel to Moorestown Friends today for their next game.
 
The Boys Wrestling Team lost to Oakcrest in their home opener on Thursday, 59-22.  Chase Moritz and Chase Mulherin recorded pins for the Panthers.  Ian Smith won by tech fall.  The boys recorded their 1st win of the season vs Burlington City on Saturday. Omar Kane sealed the win with a pin at heavyweight.  The boys will return to action on Thursday at home against Salem at 530PM in the PHS Gym.
In Girls Wrestling, Samantha Domask traveled to Freehold Township High School to take part in the Lady Privateers Jamboree.   After a full day of wrestling she lost a close match in the championship and finished in 2nd place in the tournament.  Congrats on a great day of wrestling!
 
Last Saturday the Winter Track & Field Teams traveled to The University of Pennsylvania for a match. 
At the meet:
Madison Grimes finished in 11th in the long jump
Zaria Welch finished 9th in the shot put
Olivia Lynch finished in 24th in the shot put
Josh Carter finished in 7th in the high jump
Michael Kozlowski finished 4th in the pole vault
On Tuesday, the Palmyra Panther throwers competed against more than 250 of the top throwers in South Jersey.  
Zariah Welch turned in a personal-best performance, placing 14th in the girls’ varsity competition. 
Mailee Kahana, Jamila Walker, Phoenix Leeks, Landon Loringer, and Bryce Ubel also recorded personal bests.  
Landon Loringer placed 18th in the freshman competition, and Olivia Lynch threw a season-best mark.
 
=======================M I D D L E   S C H O O L=========================== 
The Middle School Boys Basketball Team lost to Pennsauken on Tuesday 57-27.  Bennett Hart led the scoring with 22 points.  The boys traveled to Burlington City on Thursday and lost 53-22.  Bennett Hart again led the scoring with 16 points.
 
The Middle School Girls Basketball Team went 1-1 last week.  The girls lost a close game to Phifer on Monday before scoring a come-from-behind win against Burlington City 20-16 on Thursday.  Liz Youngblood led the team in scoring with 8 points.  Brooke Strobel secured the win for the Panthers with a buzzer beating layup at the end of the game.  Nijah Robbs, Saniya Miller, Alana Pirela, and Janiyah Woods also scored for the Panthers while leading a great defensive effort down the stretch.
