Spring Sports Update

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:                         Good Day All,  Our spring sports teams are now fully into their regular seasons.  Here are some of the high school results from Spring Break:

The Palmyra Boys Tennis Team had a dominating 5-0 win over Burlington Township over spring break.  John Liebe, Richie Butler, and Austin Forrester led the way in their single matches by winning both sets.  The doubles team of Julian Carlino/ Connor McCann and Owen Jacobs/ Jaden Jennings both played perfect matches by defeating their opponents 6-0, 6-0. The Tennis team is now 2-1 on the season with a busy upcoming week of matches against Northern Burlington, the BCSL Open, Clayton, and Cinnaminson. 

The Boys & Girls Track & Field Teams competed at the Don Danser Relays at Lenape High School and the Moorestown Invitational over Spring Break.  The top finishers included:

At the Don Danser Relays:

Girls Team

  • Girls 4X100 Shuttle Hurdle Relay placed 2nd (Keronja Watson, Julia Ostroff, Natalie Sherrill, Meli Martinez)
  • Girls 4x100 Meter Relay placed 4th (Caitlin Hartman, Natasha McGowan, Amanda Gilmore, Julia Ostroff)
  • Girls 4x200 Meter Relay placed 3rd (Caitlin Hartman, Keronja Watson, Natalie Sherrill, Cadence Anderson)
  • Girls 4X400 Meter Relay placed 2nd (Keronja Watson, Natasha McGowan, Natalie Sherrill, Maura Russell)
  • Girls Distance Medley Relay placed 4th (Cadence Anderson, Kiley Hines, Sarah Agnew, Maura Russell)
  • Natasha McGowan placed 3rd in the Pole Vault 

Boys Team

  • Boys 4x110 Hurdle Relay placed 2nd (Kwinten Ives, Joe Russell, Abdul Iyiola, John Latimore)
  • Boys Sprint Medley placed 5th (Jimmy Crean, Abdul Iyiola, John Latimore, Bobby Woll)
  • Joe Russell placed 2nd in the Pole Vault

At the Moorestown Invitational:

  • Abdul Iyiola placed 2nd in the 400 Meter Hurdles
  • Joe Russell placed 3rd in the Pole Vault and 3rd in the High Jump
  • Sam Adams placed 4th in the Discus

The Baseball Team had a tough start to the season with an 0-3 week.  The boys lost tough games to Doane Academy, Cedar Creek High School and Clayton High School.  They will return to action today at home against BCIT Westampton.

The Softball Team also had a tough week going 0-3, losing to Doane Academy, Overbrook High School and Paulsboro High School.  The girls will return to action today at home against Maple Shade High School.
