-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reportsGood Day Everyone & welcome back!  Our student-athletes & coaches were busy over their break!  Here is a look at how they performed:

The Baseball Team had an impressive week going 3-0.  The boys opened the week with an 8-3 win over Clayton High School on Monday.  Dean Maute hit a big home run and knocked in 3 runs.  Carson Strobel had 2 hits while Anthony Morgenstern, Ian Smith, Nate Bachich and Justin Dellisanti all had a hit each.  Anthony Morgenstern got the win, pitching a complete game and striking out 7 Clippers. 
The boys then defeated Pennsauken Tech in a close game on Tuesday, 4-2.  Steve Peltz, Dean Maute, Anthony Morgenstern and Nate Bachich all had 2 hits for the Panthers.  Justin Dellisanti and Ian Smith each added a hit.  Steve Peltz picked up the win striking out 11 Tornados. 
The Panthers finished the week off by demolishing Camden High School on Friday, 19-0.  Steve Peltz had 4 hits and 4 RBI’s while Nate Bachich also had 4 hits and pitched, picking up the win, striking out 6.  Dean Maute, Anthony Morgenstern, Ian Smith, Noah Vaughn and Justin Dellisanti all had multiple hits in the game.  Marques Washington, Brandon Howell and Nick Rex all picked up a hit.  The Panthers improved their record to 5-5 on the season.  They will host Mastery Charter today at Charles Street at 3:45PM.

The Softball Team had a busy week playing 4 games.  The girls opened the week with a 3-1 loss at BCIT Medford.  Jisselle Martinez, Olivia Lynch and Elsie Kenson all had a hit for the Lady Panthers.  Jasmine Martinez struck out 7, pitching the complete game. 
The girls then played Maple Shade on Tuesday and lost another close one, 6-4.  Jisselle Martinez, Jasmine Martinez, Olivia Lynch, Aubrey Wagner, Elsie Kenson and Grace Stavely all had hits.  Olivia Lynch had 2 RBI’s.  Jasmine Martinez pitched the complete game and struck out 8. 
The girls traveled to Maple Shade for their next game on Thursday and defeated the Shaders in the rematch, 12-4.  The Lady Panthers got multiple hits from Gianna Guglielmucci, Jasmine Martinez, Olivia Lynch, Sidney Lim, Elsie Kenson and Grace Stavely.  Jasmine Martinez, Olivia Lynch, Sidney Lim and Elsie Kenson all had 2 RBI’s apiece.  Jasmine Martinez picked up the win, striking out 10 Wildcats. 
The girls finished the week with a high scoring loss at Overbrook, 20-10.  Sidney Lim had 3 hits while Jasmine Martinez, Jisselle Martinez and Olivia Lynch all had 2 hits.  Jisselle Martinez had 4 RBI’s and Olivia Lynch had 3 RBI’s to lead the offense.  The girls are now 4-6 on the season and will host Haddon Township tomorrow at 4PM.

The Boys Tennis Team had 1 match over the break against Moorestown Friends.  The boys lost 5-0 against one of the top teams in South Jersey.  The Panthers are 4-4 and they will return to action tomorrow against Burlington Township at Legion.

The Boys & Girls Spring Track & Field Teams Over spring break the boys and girls track team were busy competing in some of the biggest track meets in the state and the nation.  
At the Woodbury Relays:

  • The Girls 4x100 team of Jill Hines, Ava Sims, Hailey Monroe and Keronja Watson finished 13th.  

  • The Girls Distance Medley of Ellie McCarron, Anna Paszkiewicz, Maya Richman Dupont and Ava Sims placed 10th.  

  • The Boys 4X100 team of Michael Monroe, Sy’keem Muse, Burak Sayin and Jaleel Latimore placed 9th.

  • The Boys shuttle hurdle team of Josh Carter, Jaleel Latimore, Charles Rosica and Brock Weaver placed 7th

  • The Boys Distance Medley of Burak Sayin, Pat Broadbelt, Johnny Hammond and Brock Weaver placed 11th

  • Sam Adams placed 9th in the invitational discus throw.

Medalists from the Woodbury Relays included:

  • Keronja Watson, Anna Rosica, Hailey Monroe and Jill Hines placing 6th in the shuttle hurdles.

  • Jaleel Latimore placed 4th in the invitational high jump and won a medal. 

Later in the week, the Boys and Girls competed against teams from all over the United States at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia.

  • The Boys team of Mike Monroe, Sy’keem Muse, Burak Sayin and Jaleel Latimore ran their fastest time of the year and placed 24th.

  • The next day the girls 4x100 of Keronja Watson, Ava Sims, Maddie Grimes, and Jill Hines placed 64th.

Also congratulations to Sam Adams and Jaleel Latimore for qualifying for the Nike South Jersey Elite Meet on this Thursday.

The Middle School Track & Field Teams were off last week and will travel to Glassboro today for their next meet.
