October 11th Pulaski Day Sculpture

October 11th is the day is set aside in the United States to recognize Casimir Pulaski, a Polish immigrant. Over two centuries ago, he joined the Continental Army and soon rose in the ranks to Brigadier General.  For more info on the life of the Brigadier General click here.  His sculpture stands proudly with other Revolutionary War Heroes on the grounds of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  The sculptor, Sidney Waugh was a decorated veteran of WWII.

The day also honors Polish immigrants and their descendants across the country. Generations have contributed to the founding of the United States, and its continued growth. Whether through service in the Armed Forces or skilled labor, innovation, or the arts, their enduring heritages lives on.  We are #PalmyraProud of our families of Polish Heritage.

Enjoy your long weekend Palmyra Families!  Students have Monday, October 11th off.  Your teachers will be hard at work on Monday without you while they learn more about all the new programs we have coming in.
