Athletics Update -gym photo with wrestling girls

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:                              Good Morning & Happy Monday Everyone! Here’s a look at how our athletes performed last week:

Jase Jennings, Andy Santoro and John Bilkins all received All State Recognition at yesterday’s Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey All-State Banquet.  Furthermore, the boys were notified that they finished the season ranked as the #23 public school team in the entire state which is voted on by the Soccer Coaches Association of New Jersey.  A huge achievement for such a small school!


     


The Girls Wrestling Team traveled to Timber Creek High School for the South Jersey Hall of Fame Tournament.  Congrats to Samantha Domask who won the heavyweight class championship!  Sam beat the defending state champion in the tournament to earn the 1st place honors!

The Boys Wrestling Team had a 3 and 1 week.  They opened the week with a 45-22 victory over BCIT Westampton on Wednesday.  Pat Daly, Deakon Haines, Gabriella Alves DeSousa, Blake Wood, Toaha Sajim, Chase Moritz and Trevor Young all picked up wins for the Panthers.  The squad then hosted Deptford, Sterling and Clayton in a quad on Saturday and went 2-1.  The Panthers defeated Sterling 57-21 and Clayton 45-28.  In the Sterling win the team picked up wins on the mat from Sy’Keem Muse, Pat Daly, Joe Garrison, Toaha Sajim, Trevor Young, Aidan Hines and Elliot Jackson.  Winners on the mat during the Clayton match included Ben Still, Elliot Jackson, Pat Daly, Deakon Haines, Chase Moritz and Aidan Hines.  The Panthers are now 6-3 on the season and will travel to Pemberton for their next match today.

The Boys Basketball Team went 1-1 on the week.  The boys opened the week with a 42-35 loss against Willingboro.  Sam Adams and Da’Shon Edmonds each had 10 points for the Panthers.  The Panthers rebounded with a huge win over division opponent STEM Civics on Friday, 68-31.  Azmir Taylor had a huge game scoring 21 points.  Sam Adams added 15 points and Da’Shon Edmonds chipped in 12 points in the win.  The boys are now 4-5 on the season and will travel to Moorestown Friends for their next game. 

The Girls Basketball Team also went 1-1 on the week.  The girls defeated Burlington City on Wednesday 47-41.  Cadence Anderson led the scoring with 24 points.  Angelina Sauls added 10 points in the victory.  The girls lost their 1st game of the year on Friday at Bordentown, 39-31.  Anna Paszkiewicz led the attack with 16 points.  The girls are now 7-1 on the season and will host Doane Academy today at 400PM in a Varsity only game. 

The JV Boys Basketball Team lost to Willingboro in a close game before winning a thriller against STEM Civics on Friday, pulling the win out in the last minute of a tight game.  Congrats!

The Winter Track Team will return to action today at Toms River.

The Middle School Boys Basketball Team lost to Florence in their 1st game back from break, 63-36. Dorian Davis led the scoring with 13 points.  The boys will host New Egypt High School at 4PM at Charles Street School today.

The Middle School Girls Basketball Team lost to Florence 38-3 in their 1st game back.  Brooke Strobel scored 2 points for the Lady Panthers.  The girls will host New Egypt Middle School today at 5PM at Charles Street School.
