January 24th to 28th Great Kindness Challenge

On Monday, January 24th, all 3 Palmyra Schools will kick-off the 11th Annual Great Kindness Challenge.

Stay tuned to our website for specifics of the upcoming week.  Palmyra has participated in the Great Kindness Challenge (GKC) for more than 5 years now and at the end of the coming week, we hope to be Kindness certified & will share the Kindness seal proudly in our buildings.

It is believed that using terms like: "kindness certified" have a far greater positive impact than repeating "anti-bullying" as a mantra.  The cornerstone of the District's Mission and Strategic Plan is to foster the empathy in our students, through campaigns like this one, to help teachers and parents help our students become compassionate community members.

We invite community members & parents to cheer students on by liking & sharing our social media posts as well as sharing ideas for kindness activities with us here via email.

Presented by Kids for Peace, a California-based global nonprofit, this one-week bullying prevention program provides an opportunity for every student to actively create a culture of compassion, inclusion, unity and respect at school and beyond. Using a provided kindness checklist, students are “challenged” to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. To elevate and amplify the kindness experience, schools will decorate their schools with positive messages, organize community service projects, host chilly recess Kindness Stations. and include community members to cheer students on.

The Great Kindness Challenge started with three Carlsbad schools in 2012 and has grown into a worldwide kindness movement with nearly 17 million students participating in all 50 states and 115 countries. This positive, proactive and powerful week will mobilize students worldwide to create communities that are respectful, compassionate, happy, and kind. Collectively, these students will complete over 1 billion acts of kindness!
