Our Middle School 7/8 Battle of the Books Club combined their team with our neighbors in Riverton this year. Last year's Palmyra-only squad placed 4th. This year's advisors, Ms. Kate Futia from Palmyra Middle School and Riverton School's Ms. Amy Penwell at Riverton School are proud to share about the Battle of the Books Team:

"Battle of the Books is a national reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read." (for more click Battle of the Books link)

In Burlington County, teams from the Burlington City, Burlington Twp, Cinnaminson, Delran, Harrington (MTL), Maple Shade, Medford Lakes, Northern Burlington, Palmyra| Riverton, St Mary of the Lakes, Tabernacle, and Westampton Schools met at Burlington Township Middle School on Friday, April 12th. Each team brought 5-6 members who had spent the last six months reading from a booklist of 15 titles. These 7th & 8th graders were asked detail-intensive questions about the books, and to correctly identify the titles and authors.

Battle of the Books is a relatively new club for our local schools, and in a showing of community unity, students from Riverton School and Palmyra Middle School came together to compete as one team.

In spite of not being able to practice together, but by being friends out there in our Pal-Riv community, these students  powered their way to a PHENOMENAL 2nd-place finish!
