National Day of Silence

Today, April 23rd, GSA (Gay/Straight Alliance) students at Palmyra High School are staying silent as part of a National Youth movement highlighting the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people in schools.

Nationally, nearly 4 in 5 LGBTQ students do not see positive LGBTQ representation in their curriculum, nearly 9 in 10 experience verbal harassment, and almost one third miss school because they feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

GLSEN.org shares that together, we can break the silence, making school more inclusive for all.  Think about the voices you are NOT hearing.

Join GLSEN National online at 7pm eastern for the virtual BREAKING THE SILENCE rally tonight.
