Winter Sports Update

The winter season is off and running!  Here is a look at how our teams performed last week:

The Girls Basketball Team continued their torrid start going 3-0 on the week.  The Girls defeated Maple Shade High School on Tuesday, 48-19.  Cadence Anderson led everyone in scoring with 21 points.  The Lady Panthers then crushed Burlington City on Thursday, 61-39.  Cadence Anderson scored 20 points while Molly Jackson added 13 points and Sophia Wilburn added 10 points and 9 rebounds.  The girls finished their perfect week with a 51-12 thrashing of Riverside High School on Friday.  Sophia Wilburn led the offensive attack with 15 points.  Cadence Anderson and Lauren Gilmore each scored 11 points to help earn the win.  The girls are now 7-1 on the season and will travel to Florence High School for a game today.  They now find themselves ranked in the top 5 in the BCSL by nj.com!

The Boys Basketball Team went 0-2 on the week after losing 2 tight games.  The boys lost at New Egypt on Thursday, 44-37.  Chris McCarron led the Panthers with 11 points.  On Saturday the boys lost another close one to Florence High School, 55-48.  Kwinten Ives led the attack with 16 points.  Reed Wells added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers.  The boys are now 4-3 on the season and will travel to Delran High School for a match up today.

The Winter Track and Field Teams competed last Wednesday against 40 teams throughout the state and had another outstanding showing.  Joe Russell placed 5th in the 800 meters, 7th in the pole-vault and won a 3rd place medal in the high jump.  Maura Russell took 5th in the 800 meters and 4th in the high jump.  Tyree Bull placed 8th in the 55 meter dash and won a 3rd place medal in the 55 hurdles.  Sadiq Cook placed 4th in the 55 hurdles and was a member of the 9th place 4x200 meter relay.  The boys 4x200 team consisted of Joe Russell, Sadiq Cook, Luke Cannuli and Abdulazeez Iyiola.

The Wrestling Team had a tough week, wrestling some top competition in South Jersey including Group 3 Timber Creek, Group 4 Pennsauken, Woodstown and Haddon Heights.  The Panthers fell to 6-7 on the season.  Winners from the week included Trevor Young, Connor Falicki, Xavier Mourey, Aidan Hines, Jesse Domask, Zach Warnock, Victor Martin, Patrick Daly and Sal Olivares.  The Mat Cats will return to action on Tuesday at Riverside High School.

Middle School Wrestling took on New Egypt Middle School on Wednesday and won 9 out of the 16 matches.

Boys and Girls Middle School Basketball Teams took on New Egypt and Cinnaminson last week and will compete against Florence Middle School and Riverside Middle School this week.
