Winter Sports Update

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  Here is a look at how the winter sports teams did last week:

The Girls Basketball Team had a 2-1 week.  The girls opened the week with a 55-34 win over Penns Grove High School on Monday.  Sophia Wilburn led the way with 20 points while Cadence Anderson finished with 15 points.  The girls lost a battle to Delran High School on Wednesday, 36-31.  Cadence Anderson scored 15 points for the girls.  The Lady Panthers finished off their week with a convincing 48-33 win over Holy Cross High School on Friday.  Cadence Anderson led the scoring with 15 points while Molly Jackson scored 11 and Sophia Wilburn scored 10.  The Girls record now stands at 15-3 on the season and will host OLMA High School tonight at 530PM in their next game.

The Boys Basketball Team had a 2-2 week.  The week started with a tight 3-point loss to Florence High School, 58-55.  Chris McCarron led the scoring with 24 points while Kwinten Ives scored 19.  The boys responded with a big win over Group 4 Pennsauken on Wednesday, 59-58.  Chris McCarron scored 25 to lead the Panthers while Kwinten Ives scored 12.  The boys followed that up with a big overtime divisional win against New Egypt High School on Friday Night, 56-51.  Kwinten Ives led the scoring with 20 points while Chris McCarron contributed 13 points and Reed Wells chipped in 11.  The boys finished the week with a loss to BCIT West on Saturday, 63-40.  Kwinten Ives scored 20 points while Chris McCarron scored 13.  The Panthers enter this week with a record of 11-6 and will travel to Cedar Creek for their next game today.

The BCSL Independence Division Champion Wrestling Team completed their regular season over the weekend.  The Boys started the weekend by beating Burlington City.  They then traveled to Hammonton for a quad where they faced Hammonton, Haddon Township and Overbrook.  Winners on the mat included Trevor Young, Aidan Hines, Cameron Woodard, Zach Warnock, Jesse Domask and  Xavier Mourey.  The Panthers will travel to Cherry Hill East this Saturday to compete in the District 27 Championships.  The Mat Cats finished their regular season with a record of 13-12 and hold claim as BCSL Independence Division Champions!

The Winter Track & Field Teams competed at the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1  Sectional Championships Friday Night.  Top 10 performances included: 

  • Maura Russell in the 800
  • Tyree Bull in the 55 dash 
  • Colin Broadbelt in the 1600
  • James Crean in the 3200.  

The following athletes qualified for the Group 1 State Championships later this month with top 6 finishes: 

  • Nate Cammack in the shot put
  • Dominic Belton in the high jump
  • Joe Russell in the high jump
  • Tyree Bull in the hurdles
  • Heather Adams in the shot put

Middle School Wrestling  and Boys and Girls Middle School Basketball Teams completed their fruitful winter seasons with great training for the coming year!
