Winter Sports Update

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  Our winter student-athletes are winding down their seasons.  Here is a look at how they did last week:

The Girls Basketball Team had a huge week going 3-1 and clinching a share of the BCSL Freedom Division Championship.  The Lady Panthers lost a hard fought battle to OLMA on Tuesday, 45-38.  Sophia Wilburn scored 20 points while Lauren Gilmore added 14.  The girls responded with a 42-32 divisional win against Pemberton High School on Wednesday.  Cadence Anderson scored 16 and Sophia Wilburn added 10 points in the key victory.  The girls defeated Pennsauken High School at home during our senior night game on Friday, 46-27.  Seniors Sophia Wilburn(10 points), Molly Jackson(8 points), Julianna Rex(6 points) and Maria Dixon(4 points) helped lead the girls to the victory.  On Saturday the girls matched up with New Egypt High School who was undefeated in the Freedom Division.  The girls routed New Egypt 37-27 to earn a share of the BCSL Freedom Division Championship.  The girls are now 19-4 on the season.  This week will be their final week of the regular season before hosting Paulsboro in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1 Tournament next Tuesday at 630PM.


The Boys Basketball Team went 1-1 on the week but the win was one of the biggest wins in recent memory, beating Group 3 Burlington Township on Friday 68-64.  Senior Chris McCarron led the scoring with 29 points and Junior Kwinten Ives scored 28 points to lead the boys to the victory.  In their other game during the week the boys lost a heartbreaker to Cedar Creek, 59-58.  Kwinten Ives led the scoring with 21 points and Chris McCarron added 15.  The Panthers are now 12-8 on the season and will enter the final week of the regular season before hosting Woodstown in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1 Tournament next Tuesday at 430PM.

The BCSL Independence Division Champion Wrestling Team traveled to the NJSIAA District 27 Championships on Saturday.  After a full day of wrestling 2 Panthers were still standing and advancing to the Regional Championships.  

  • Senior Xavier Mourey was able to finish in 3rd place at the 215 pound weight class and is now 23-8 on the season.
  • Sophomore Trevor Young was able to finish in 2nd place in the 106 pound weight class and now has a record of 33-2 on the season.  

The Mat Cats finished their regular season with a record of 13-12 and hold claim as BCSL Independence Division Champions!  Both Xavier and Trevor will travel to Moorestown High School this Friday to compete at the NJSIAA Regional Championships.

The Winter Track & Field Teams has these athletes that qualified for the Group 1 State Championships later this month with top 6 finishes: 

  • Nate Cammack in the shot put
  • Dominic Belton in the high jump
  • Joe Russell in the high jump
  • Tyree Bull in the hurdles
  • Heather Adams in the shot put

PMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS -Middle School Wrestling and Boys and Girls Middle School Basketball Teams completed their fruitful winter seasons with great training for the coming year!
