Winter Sports Update

The winter regular season has come to a close for all of our athletic teams and we are on to the playoffs.  Here is a look at how all of our athletes competed last week:

Congratulations to the Winter Track & Field Teams for an amazing winter season.  This past weekend Heather Adams, Joe Russell, Tyree Bull, Dominic Belton and Nate Cammack competed in the NJSIAA Group I State Finals!  

  • Heather Adams placed 6th in the state and won a medal in the shot put.  
  • Joe Russell placed 7th in the state in the high jump and 
  • Tyree Bull ran a personal best in the high hurdles and placed 7th. 

The Wrestling Team had 2 wrestlers wrestling at the Region 7 Championships on Friday and Saturday at Moorestown High School.  Both Trevor Young and Xavier Mourey won their opening round matches on Friday night, advancing the Mat Cats to wrestle on Saturday.  Xavier Mourey was able to finish in 6th place in the Regions at 215 pounds.  Congrats to the wrestling team on their great season and their 2021-2022 Division Championship!  

The BCSL Freedom Division Champion Girls Basketball Team had another 3-0 week!  The girls opened up play with a 31-27 win over Group 2 Collingswood High School on Monday.  Cadence Anderson led the scoring with 13 points while Sophia Wilburn chipped in 10 points.  On Thursday the girls defeated Group 3 BCIT Westampton, 53-35.  Sophia Wilburn had a huge day scoring 17 points and grabbing 17 rebounds.  Cadence Anderson scored 18 points in the victory.  The Lady Panthers finished their regular season by demolishing STEM Civics Charter School, 59-12, on Friday.  Maria Dixon scored 15 points to pace the girls.  Cadence Anderson had 10 and Angelina Sauls and Lauren Gilmore each chipped in 8 points.  The girls finished their regular season with an amazing 21-4 record and will host Paulsboro High School tomorrow night at 630 in the PHS Gym in an NJSIAA 1st Round Playoff Game.  The girls are one of the contenders in the South Jersey Group 1 bracket.

The Boys Basketball Team finished their regular season with a 1-2 week.  The boys lost to Doane Academy on Monday 71-61.  Chris McCarron had 22 points while Kwinten Ives scored 15 points and Jase Jennings added 12 points.  The boys turned around and beat Moorestown Friends on Tuesday, 68-40.  Chris McCarron had 31 points to lead the Panthers to victory while Kwinten Ives scored 25.  The boys finished the week with a 49-33 loss to Group 3 Moorestown.  Chris McCarron scored 18 and Kwinten Ives had 11.  The boys finished the regular season with a record of 13-9 and will host Woodstown High School tomorrow at 430PM in the PHS Gym in an opening round NJSIAA Playoff Game.  The boys are one of the contenders to watch in the SJ Group 1 Playoffs.

Boys Basketball Senior Night honored Chris McCarron & Anthony Sadler.


The BCSL Independence Division Champion Wrestling Team traveled to the NJSIAA District 27 Championships on Saturday.  After a full day of wrestling 2 Panthers were still standing and advancing to the Regional Championships.  

  • Senior Xavier Mourey was able to finish in 3rd place at the 215 pound weight class and is now 23-8 on the season.
  • Sophomore Trevor Young was able to finish in 2nd place in the 106 pound weight class and now has a record of 33-2 on the season.
